# What it can change

The AI writes your pages. Knowing where its reach stops saves asking for things
it will decline and missing things it would have done.

## It writes content

Words, layout, styling, structured data, the metadata a search engine reads. It
writes real markup and real CSS, and it can see the whole site while it does it
— so "make every page's footer match the homepage" is one request.

## It manages pages

It can make a page, retitle one, change a page's address, and choose the
homepage. A rename is a move, so the redirect comes with it.

It will **not delete** anything. Deleting is a person's job, from the list
screens, and there is deliberately no tool for it.

## It changes settings and facts

The site CSS and JS, the metadata, and the [theme](/design/theme) — your
colours and fonts. It can make a new [collection](/dynamic/collections),
define its fields, and fill in each item's values, and it can do the same for
your [site fields](/dynamic/site-fields).
Ask for a change in words and it edits the right one.

It does not invent a fact. Anything you have not told it stays empty, and it
says what is missing.

It can also write to [the brief](/editing/the-brief) when you tell it something
about the business that belongs there.

## It publishes nothing

Every change is a draft. Nothing it does reaches a visitor until you press
Publish — see [How editing works](/getting-started/how-editing-works).

That includes addresses. Renaming a page, moving it under another or handing
over the homepage changes where a page *will* be served, not where it is: the old
address goes on working until you publish, and redirects to the new one after
that. So an address it reports is the address the page is going to have.

## It can look things up

It can search the web when it needs a fact it does not have — opening hours
conventions for your trade, the correct spelling of a supplier. Searching costs
credits, and it says when it has done it.

It can also look at pictures you attach to a message, and bring an image it can
see into your library.

Give it the address of a site you already have and it can read that site's
pages and rebuild them here. It lists the pages first, so you can agree what
comes across before it writes anything.

## It can read your history

It can look up what a page used to say and put an old version back by name. It
does not need the old text pasted at it.

## What it cannot do

- **Delete anything.**
- **Publish.**
- **Take a page down.** Enabling, disabling and trashing are yours, from the
list screens — and they are the one thing in the product that does not wait
  for Publish.
- **Take a site offline**, or change your billing.
- **Reach another site.** A conversation is about one site.
- **Remember outside the conversation.** Inside one it remembers everything —
including work it did on a different page earlier in the same thread. Across
two conversations it remembers nothing, which is why the brief matters: what
it knows on the first turn of a new one is the brief, your theme, your
collections and the page in front of it.

## When it gets something wrong

Say so plainly in the same conversation: "that heading is too long, and the
second paragraph repeats the first". It has the page in front of it.

If it has made things worse, ask it to undo — see [Undo a change](/editing/undo).
